Luca…GO!….right? Jeremi….whatever you choose, you’ll end up grateful that you chose what you chose! All sound like the mind-opening experiences that enrich our lives.
I appreciate you both sharing about your questions and uncertainty while not yet knowing what you’ll decide. Often we can wait until we’ve tied everything in a bow before revealing to others that we even had a difficulty. Your openness real time is inspiring.
Luca: you can't go wrong with either continuing in Berkeley or a semester abroad. One note: my son, Noah, currently a second year law student at Wash U in St. Louis, is going to study abroad for third year first semester of law school in Nottingham, England. Not an option that was available when I attend law school. So I don't know what your grad school plans might be, but that could be another time to consider study abroad. Jeremi: good job being real in your comments. The situation you are facing about direction on your project will become familiar as you continue through life. Challenging yourself is challenging. No one swoops down and tells you the right answer. You go with your gut and make your best decision in the moment, celebrating successes and learning from mistakes. Indeed, often it is best not to think of the mistakes as mistakes, but rather further personal educational opportunities. Don't forget our lunch date at Aroma, guys, when you are back in town for the summer.
Thanks for the message Rob. The confusion and ambiguity is definitely a learning opportunity. If I don't make the perfect decision, that's OK. Just trying to stay thoughtful and yes--challenge myself!
Very much looking forward to our lunch date. Luca is right that we will have to get clever with the timing, but we'll make it work.
Thank you for the thoughtful comment, Rob! Grad school's definitely an option, so it's great to hear they have abroad programs (didn't know that!). Hope Noah enjoys studying in England!
And yes, lunch together absolutely. What may be tricky is that Jeremi finishes school a month later than me and I'm headed to New York this summer, but we'll look at the calendar and figure out some dates that work. Really looking forward to seeing you!
Can I make one more comment? What I’ve found to be true for me is that I can fall in love with a wide range of endeavors. The key factor is this: The energy I put into something determines how much I enjoy my choice. Joy has less to do with “the thing” and more to do with me losing myself in “the thing.” As you both are blessed with the ability to go all in on stuff, I think you can’t lose. All in leads to happiness.

Definitely. I'm wrestling with how I want to go about it, but I'm sure I will enjoy whatever I choose
"GO!" is what everyone's telling me to do after reading this newsletter!

Thank you, Shayne!
